Increasingly, the role of a sports scientist or performance analyst is a technological one and WIFA along with Skillanation & Dartfish is at the forefront of providing video solutions to enable coaches, analysts, therapists and conditioning experts to use video more efficiently and effectively to analyze performance and train behaviors to create better, stronger teams and athletes.
Dartfish Certified Technologist (DCT) certification will help you master all the Dartfish technologies and give an in depth understanding of how they integrate.
ENVIRONMENT & EQUIPMENT
The course can predominantly run in a classroom equiped with one Windows* PC or laptop per student
Computers must be updated with Windows essential and recommended updates and meet the minimum specification (recommended preferred)
*Macs can be used running Windows in Bootcamp but not Windows emulator software or dual boot software such as Paralells
Data projector and whiteboard/flipchart for instructor
Internet access for students and instructor
Power supply for all
Video cameras, SD cards, cables to download video to computer
Webcams e.g. Logitech c920 – as many as can be provided.
Other video equipment used by WIFA such as converter hardware or IP cameras may be provided for demonstration purposes but is not esssential
Students should download myDartfish Express and Dartfish Note apps for iOS and Android smart phones or tablets. These are free with the myDartfish subscription they will be provided with.
Course Outline
1: THE ROLE OF VIDEO IN SPORT (90min)
Here we discover the different ways that video contributes to the development of athletes and teams. This lecture also serves as an introduction to Dartfish and how it meets these needs.
2: VIDEO RECORDING & MANAGEMENT (4h)
A key factor of good video analysis is being able to get good footage, get it efficiently to be able to maximise its use and to organise it in a way that it continues to be useful. The objective of this module is to be able to assess and define the best video solution for any given need and understand video and event keyword organisation.
3: TECHNIQUE ANALYSIS (4h)
Learn how the Dartfish Analyzer aids comparison and quantitative and qualitative assessment.
Assessment: record and create a technical analysis
4: DARTFISH TAGGING 1 (4h)
Here we’ll build on the simple understanding gained in module 1 by looking at examples of tagging to create video presentations and tagging to create statistics. We’ll also consider how dartfish.tv makes your tagged events accessible to your audience.
5: DARTFISH TAGGING 2 (4h)
By now we have a good understanding of what tagging is all about so we’ll set about planning and creating tagging panels for Dartfish Software and Dartfish Note. We’ll put them to the test.

Assessment
This is a pass/fail course which requires: Attendance at all modules; completion of the module tasks according to the specified criteria; submission of a short essay.
