Goans Sports Association Ground, Cross Maidan

The AIFF Coca-Cola Cup final round kicked off today at the Goans Sports Association in Mumbai. This youth football initiative for teenagers is being hosted the Western India Football Federation for the first time ever in Maharashtra. Eight teams will battle it out for the right to be crowned Champions of India in this Sub Junior championship.
The tournament was inaugurated by the President of the Mumbai District Football Association Mr. Digambar Khandarkar. The first match saw Assam facing off with Madhya Pradesh
Commenting on the official launch of the 2013 tournament, Mr. Digambar Khandarkar, President – Mumbai DFA, said: “This tournament identifies a need to connect with the youth who aspire to be professional football players through football, the world’s most popular sport. We are glad that this youth football initiative reiterates the pillars that all us football federations believe in.
“Encouraging young Indian football players to participate in the Coca-Cola cup is important to the Western India Football Association, because it acts as a stepping stone for the professional leagues. In the coming years, we hope to see our many of these players representing I-League clubs and the Indian National Team in various tournaments.” Said Mr. Souter Vaz, Hon.
