Dhule, May 29 – Pune and Mumbai emerged victorious in their respective semifinal clashes, securing their spots in the highly anticipated finals of the WIFA Inter District Championship
In an electrifying encounter, Pune displayed a dominant performance against Nagpur, securing an impressive 8-0 victory. Pune’s Iqbal Shaikh and Arjun Singh stole the limelight with sensational hattricks, leaving the opposition defense stunned. The first half witnessed a tight contest, with Arjun Singh breaking the deadlock around the half-hour mark. Iqbal Shaikh’s quickfire goals in the closing minutes of the first half extended Pune’s lead to 4-0.
In the second half, Iqbal completed his hattrick early on, while Arjun Singh completed his own hattrick around the hour mark. Substitutes Suyash Yadav and Neelkanth More added two more goals to secure a resounding victory. The final score stood at Pune 8 – 0 Nagpur.
Meanwhile, Mumbai showcased their dominance with a commanding 3-0 win over Kolhapur in the semifinals. The first half ended goalless, setting the stage for a thrilling second half. Niall Goghavala emerged as the hero for Mumbai, delivering a sensational hattrick to seal their place in the finals.
Goghavala opened the scoring in the 50th minute and quickly added two more goals in the 69th and 71st minute, leaving Kolhapur’s defense helpless. Mumbai’s solid defense kept Kolhapur at bay throughout the match, securing a clean sheet and a well-deserved victory.
