Sandeep Fernandes hogged the limelight with a fine hat-trick in Falcon FC’s convincing 3-0 win against Jet Airways in a Division-II match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) league, played at the St Xavier’s ground, Parel on Tuesday evening.
The opportunistic striker Fernandes drew first blood in the 18th minute and added two more in the 43rd and 58th minutes to complete his feat and complete the rout.
In a Division-III play-off encounter, Millat FC defeated V-Care by an identical 3-0 margin. Millat were given a positive start with Farmaan Khan hitting the target in the very third minute of the match. Billal Khan doubled with a strike in the 23rd minute before Farhad Khadri rounded off the tally in the 48th minute.
In another match, Blitzkrieg FC overcame the spirited challenge from Juhu Strikers to record a 1-0 victory. Sushant Chakravarthy netted the lone winning goal for his team in the 42nd minute.
