Yesterday, in their opening game of the campaign, Maharashtra went down fighting 2-1 at the hands of Bihar in the Junior Girl’s National Football Championship 2018-19 in Goa.
Bihar scored two quick-fire goals in the first-half which turned out to be the difference. Forward Karishma Kumari opened the scoring in the 31st minute before Pallavi Goswami doubled the lead just two minutes later.
Maharashtra finally managed to cut short the deficit when Akanksha Kandalkar converted from the spot for Maharashtra in the second-half but it wasn’t enough to rescue a point for Durva Vahia’s spirited side.
This is not the end of the road as Maharashtra is yet to face Punjab which will be their last Group Stage game. A must win match for Coach Durva Vahia’s energetic team.
