Maharashtra thumps Railways 3-0.
Hosts Maharashtra continued their dominating run of form with a thumping 3-0 victory against Railways in a Group-A league match of the 70thNational Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy played at Nagpur, on Wednesday.
This was the second successive win for Maharashtra who had earlier defeated Jammu & Kashmir 3-1 in the opening group match.
The Maharashtra outfit went on the offensive from the start and Vijith Shetty scored the first goal in the very 10th minute. Shahbaz Pathan found the back of the net in the 37th minute to double the lead.
Maharashtra continued to dictate terms and Aaron D’Costa joined the party scoring the third goal in the 71st minute to completely knock the fight out of the railwaymen.
Maharashtra play Mizoram on 4th March 2016 and a win would make them strong favorites for the Championship.
