Maharashtra played their second game in the quarter final stage of the AIFF U14 Football Championship at Kalyani today.
They took on a Manipur team who were high on confidence after defeating Goa 4-1. Maharashtra came into the game on back of the same score line against Punjab. The match promised to be a hard fought contest and it didn’t disappoint.
The game started off well with Maharashtra just leading the possession stats. Kamran Ansari had a chance to give Maharashtra the lead in the first half but he could not beat the keeper.
Midfielders Ishaan Dey and Ishaan Kandwal played extremely well in the centre of the park and managed to stifle the opposition. Manipur still managed to create a few chances but Maharashtra’s keeper Jignesh Solanki had an excellent game and pulled off a number of saves to keep the score at 0-0.
Aryan Yugpurush had a chance to win it at the death for Maharashtra but his header hit the crossbar and the game ended 0-0. On the whole, a draw was a fair result as both teams played well.
Maharashtra now plays their last game against Goa tomorrow.
