Earlier today, Maharashtra Inter-District Football Championship for Junior Boys went underway at Palghar which is organized by WIFA – Western India Football Association. A memorable day which saw the likes of Gondia, Jalna, Amravati, and Ahmednagar notching up wins to qualify for the next round. The second day is set to resume tomorrow.
Gondia 0-0 Sangali DFA (Gondia won 5-4 via penalties)
The first match was played between Gondia and Sangali. In what was an evenly contested match, Gondia District edged past Sangali DFA 5-4 in the tie-breaker after a 0-0 stalemate in normal time. It was Gondia’s goalkeeper Paramjit who saved the 5th penalty to take his team into the next round.
Jalna (Aniket Galdhar 59′) 1-0 Akola
Jalna defeated a resilient Akola side 1-0, courtesy of Aniket Galdhar’s 59th minute sublime strike. Akola played the whole game with only 7 players as they failed to provide an appropriate certificate for the player registration. A dominant display by Amravati as they defeated Hingoli 2-0. Yash Pavde opened the scoring in the 20th minute which was followed by Niraj Jadhav’s strike in the 28th minute.
