Instructor Raghuvir Khanolkar speaks to WIFA about D-License Coaching

A week ago, another batch of AIFF (All India Football Federation) D-License concluded here at the Cooperage Stadium. For the first time, D-License Coaching was scheduled for six days instead of five days. Instructor Raghuvir Khanolkar, also a coach of Elite Division side Central Railway, spoke to WIFA after the conclusion of the curriculum.

Regarding the facility provided by WIFA, Raghuvir said: “There is no doubt that WIFA gives great facility. With each year passing by, it is becoming better and better. The participants gave a positive feedback as well which is great.” Ever since its inception, the D-License Coaching has provided many quality coaches to Maharashtra. There was a time when participants hardly used to value the coaching but things have drastically changed over the years according to Raghuvir Khanolkar.

“Back in 2011, the candidates didn’t use to understand the importance of Coaching. But now, everyone knows the importance of the transition from a player to coach. As a player, it is very difficult to understand the value and importance of coaching. I myself didn’t know when I was a player. It was only after I enrolled myself in coaching, I got to know the value,” Raghu said.

Speaking about the recent D-License batch, the Central Railway Coach said: “This time, what I liked the most was the additional one day. Previously, the D-License was conducted for 5 days which was very compact, compared to 6 days this time.”

He felt that Indian Football will surely reach new heights if more participants turn up for the Coaching License. The technical and tactical aspect will further lay a foundation in the making of an effective coach. “The main part of D-License curriculum is to improve the participant in terms of technicality and skills. As soon as they promote to C, B, and A License, they will learn the tactical aspects.  This would have been impossible without AIFF. They have set a benchmark for quality coaches in India and with each year passing by, this initiative will definitely reap benefits for Indian football,” Raghuvir concluded.
