Vashi: Fr Agnel Multipurpose School, Vashi made the best use of the familiar conditions and in the end scored a comfortable 3-0 win over St Xavier’s High School, Nerul in the first quarter final match of the NMMC DSO Boys U-17 Football tournament being held on the artificial turf at the Fr Agnel Sports Complex in Navi Mumbai on Thursday. The hosts led 2-0 at half time through goals scored by Advait Shinde and Karan Krishnamurthy scored. The visitors however gave a good show in the second half but failed o convert their chances.
In the end Siddharth Collaco who scored the third goal for Fr Agnel’s ensured an unassailable lead for the host. In the other quarter final tie, Nikhil Chordia lone strike enabled St Mary’s ICSE School, Koparkhairane snatch a 1-0 win over Ryan International High School, Sanpada. Chordia whose powerful 25 yard grounder from the right flank found the net after it ricocheted of the second post.
In an equally contested match St Xavier’s High School, Airoli pulled up their socks and scored twice in the second half through their star strikers Wilson D’souza and Krishnakant Dwidey to enter the semi-final. St Augustine High School, Nerul will take on St Lawrence High School, Vashi in the last quarter final tie today.
