Sakshi Hiwale and Sai Sankhe etched their names on the score sheet with some fine finishing as Maharashtra dominated the titanic clash of Champions Elect by thrashing Delhi with a dominating 2-1 win.
Maharashtra dominated the game right from the off as Sakshi sealed the first goal in the 1st min with a smart finish after some tippy tappy play by the Maharashtra team. Focused on the job at hand, relentless in their pursuit of total dominance, Maharashtra didn’t allow Delhi any time on the ball as they pegged them back on every attack. After battering their defenses and peppering the goal with shots, Maharashtra found an outlet in Sai Sankhe to double the goal tally in the 17th min.
Delhi found some space in the behind the Maharashtra defense and after a rash challenge by the Maharashtra GK with some words spoken against the referee, Delhi were awarded a penalty along with Goalkeeper Anjali being sent off. Down to 10 with the majority of the match to be played, head coach Firmin Dsouza made some adjustments to the team play. Dominating till the end, Maharashtra comfortably won the game to seal their spot for the Semi-Finals and seal their contention for the title.
