MARGAO: Churchill Brothers SC rallied from a goal down to edge past Pailan Arrows 3-2 in the last I-League clash at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Sunday.
Churchill Brothers finished their league engagements with 48 points from 26 to settle for a third spot behind Dempo Sports Club and East Bengal. Pailan Arrows remained on 13th position with 16 points but they are immune to relegation.
Churchill found themselves down by a goal from CS Sabeeth but Henri Autchouet scored a brace of goals and Lalrindika Ralte ensured there were no hiccups even though Sabeeth scored another goal at the fag end of the match.
Churchill needed a win to finish third and were jolted when Sabeeth headed home
a cross from Malsawmfela in the 18th minute.
Stunned by the setback, Churchill regrouped and restored parity in the 28th minute when Henri Autchouet found the net with a neat header off a cross from Mohammed.
Early in the second half, Lalrindika Ralte (50th minute) headed in a cross from Steven Dias before Henri converted a penalty to give Churchill a 3-1 advantage.
Sabeeth scored another goal for the visitors at the fag end of the match but by then it was already too late.
