Pune-based Aspire FC kicked off their WIFA WFL campaign with a convincing 4-0 win over Lawless United of Palghar
Aspire kicked off the proceeding and took control of the game right from the start. The first big chance of the game came to Aspire’s Gita Das who picked up the ball from the right wing before making her run into the box and firing in a shot that brought a good save from Lawless United Goalie Diya Patel.
Aspire FC looking impressive in the early exchanges creating some good chances. Skipper Muriel Adam had a chance to put her side in front after finding herself in space beyond the LU defense. However, Lawless United custodian Diya rushed out to halt Muriel’s attempt as the score remained 0-0.
Aspire right back Sapna Rajpure was very impressive in attack creating a number of chances as she continuously made attacking runs becoming a constant threat for LU.
It wasn’t long before Aspire finally managed to break the deadlock when in the 36th minute, Puja Karmakar did well to beat her marker and dribble past a couple of defenders before setting up Archana Bhaldhare who struck a fine shot to make it 1-0.
Early in the second half, Aspire began with a bang with two quick goals. This time Puja became the goal scorer from a provider as she beat the offside line to go 1vs 1 against the Aspire Goalkeeper, Puja did well to round up the goalie before placing her shot into an empty net to make it 2-0.
Six minutes later, Substitute Vaishnavi Barate collected a pass from the left wing, and lofted it over the defender before shooting it past the keeper to make it 3-0 for Aspire FC.
At the other end, Lawless United rarely troubled the Aspire FC defense and soon the game was put to bed when in the 80th minute, Gita Das’s strike found the back of the net to complete a 4-0 rout.
