Pailan Arrows managed to play out a 0-0 draw with Prayag United in the
9th round of the I League played at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
Prayag had their two foreigners upfront to start with Joshimar and Yakubu while Pailan Arrows played with their usual players comprising of promising Indian youngsters.
Joshimar and Yakubu got a couple of chances in the first half but were not able to capatalise on them. The Prayag midfields which usually are a good supplier, did not seem to work wonders today and the inexperienced but gritty defenders of Pailan held out for the half.
Both teams came into the second half looking for the victory which would have been Pailans first or on the other hands would have given Prayag the edge in points over the other Kolkata rivals.
However no team was able to create any significant chances and Pailan Arrows players seemed to play some good paced football and passed around well. Neither of the teams were able to find the winner and the match stayed 0-0.
Sanjoy Sen will rue Prayag’s missed opportunity and lack of decisive play in the midfield that could have helped them move higher up the table with Dempo SC playing East Bengal on Thursday.
While Sukhwinder Singh will definitely be happy with his boys performance but is still looking for the elusive first victory for Pailan Arrows in the I-League.
