JAYESH RANE of Mumbai FC was voted THE FAN’S PLAYER OF THE YEAR in The FPAI Indian Football Awards 2015.
Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Jayesh joined Mumbai FC as a youth player in 2008 and during the 2012 I-League U20, the top youth league in India, ended as the top scorer throughout the entire league with 13 goals. He was then brought in the first-team fold for the 2012 Indian Federation Cup but was deprived of play time during the tournament as Mumbai crashed out after three games. Eventually he made his first-team debut for Mumbai during the 2012–13 I-League season against Salgaocar at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune, Maharashtra as a 90th minute substitute and gained a yellow card 2 minutes into the game as Mumbai lost 1–0, their fourth straight defeat of the season.
Jayesh scored his first ever professional goal for Mumbai in the I-League 2013-14 against Salgaocar which was not enough as Mumbai FC lost the match 1–3.
Rane played for Chennaiyin FC in the inaugural edition of the INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE and also extended his contract with Mumbai FC for the 2014-15 I-League season. He appeared 16 times during the league campaign as Mumbai finished 6th in the overall standings.
Jayesh is capable of moments of breathtaking skill but so often drifts through games, apparently lacking the force of will to stamp his authority.
Though brilliant, he can be a thorn in the side of any opponent. He has a long and tough road ahead to establish himself as a star for club & country.
