After a lengthy trial process of two phase district and state, the coaches and the selection committee have chosen 20 girls from across the State for the Upcoming Nationals.
Among the aspiring young girls there is already a star, Bhagyashree Dalvi, who was part of the team National team playing the AFC Championship which was underway in Nepal when the calamity struck. Bhagyashree Dalvi will be leading the squad.
The team is as follows:
Komal Garad (GK), Bhakti Pawar (Kolhapur), Ark D’Silva, Reva Sankhe, Tricia Colaco, Gauhar Nithaiwala, Atiriya Narayan (Mumbai),Anjali More, Annie Anthony (Nagpur), Gia Sundaram (GK), Ella Dubey, Aishwarya Gadekar, Toshita Yadav (Pune), Mayuri Waghmde (Satara), Shemchui Ningsheng, Mili Doshi, Siddhi More, Bhagyashree Dalvi (C), Reetika Sahani and Ruchita Sonawne (Thane).
Nelson Sebastian an experienced coach from Mumbai’s St. Cathedral School is the head coach who will be assisted by Ms. Annie Paul from Nagpur. Indian International Goal keeper probable Ms. Durva Vahia is acting manager and GK coach of the team.
The Maharashtra team is placed in group E with Sikkim and Uttarakhand. Fixtures are as follows:
9th May 2015 – Maharashtra vs Uttarakhand
13th May 2015 – Sikkim vs Maharashtra
Winners from each of the eight groups will qualify for the quarter final leg which will be played from 15th to 20th May followed by the Semis on 22nd and Finals on 24th May.
