Western India Football Association will be conducting AIFF ‘D’ License Course&Grassroots Leaders Course in association with Sports Authority of India (SAI), Aurangabad from 5th to 12th May 2014.
This courses are being organized to cover the Marathwada region (Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbani, Latur, Nanded, Osmanabad, Beed and Hingoli)and Jalgaon and Ahmednagar districts and will be held at the SAI Campus in Aurangabad. AIFF has approved 60 candidates form 10 districts to participate in the said courses.
The courses willbe fully subsidised by WIFA and SAI, Aurangabad. This is in line with WIFA’s Coach Education initiative to make Maharashtra a football literate State by 2015. The aim is to produce at least 3 AIFF ‘D’ License Coaches and 3 Grassroots Leaders in each district. There will be two more courses of this kind within the next month to help improve the standard of football coaching in the region.
WIFA Secretary Souter Vaz was positive about this new initiative. “WIFA is serious about getting its coaches certified. We believe that creating better coaches will help in developing talent in our State. We want to make sure there aresufficient coaches in all the districts of Maharashtra.”
Henry Menezes, Chief Executive Officer, WIFA whose brain child has been the AIFF D License program, said, “Grassroots development is directly linked to the level of coaching available. To tap the huge potential talent base in the State it is vital to have a large number of certified coaches. Our aim is to make Maharashtra a football literate State by end of this year.”
“This endeavor would not be possible without the wholehearted support and cooperation of SAI Aurangabad,” added Menezes
“Football is one of the popular sports in the Marathwada region and we share WIFA’s vision of taking it to the masses. This will help create coaches who work at the grassroots and school level and further help in identifying talent. I think it is a great initiative by Western India Football Association and we will provide all the facilities to help make it a success,” said Mr. Bhandarkar, Director Sports Authority of India – Aurangabad.
